About the club

A social golf club with a pub for a clubhouse

Balgownie Hotel Social Golf Club — Bally, Bally SGC, Bally HSGC, whatever you heard at the bar. We play for fun, points, nearest-the-pins and the presentation night upstairs.

We have golfers of all ages and abilities. The most important part of our club is that you’re having fun.

Bally SGC supports golf courses all over the Illawarra and Highlands. A new course every month — you’ll never get bored of playing the same old layout. It’s all about variety.

Balgownie Hotel is Wollongong’s premier pub and is our base for good times, beers, food, presentations and golf stories. The perfect place for the home of Bally Social Golf.

People of all ages and experience are welcome. If you want to be part of the club but don’t wish to play, social membership covers the barbecue and presentation night.

How a month works

A different course

Russell Vale, Kiama, Calderwood, Gerringong, Shellharbour Links, Jamberoo, Port Kembla, Wollongong, Kembla Grange, Antill Park, Boomerang, Shoalhaven Heads — we rotate.

A Sunday game

Stableford most months. Ambrose and 4BBB mixed in. Championship rounds and Captain vs President when the calendar says so.

Then the Balgownie

After-match beers from 12:30. Informal gathering every Friday from 5pm. Presentation night at season’s end, upstairs at the pub.
